Robert “Bob” V.  Hardy, 78, of Peru passed away the morning of Dec. 22, 2013, in his home.

Services were held at 10:30 a.m. Friday in Mueller Funeral Home, Peru, with the Rev. Robert Spilman, pastor of Nativity of Our Lord Church in Spring Valley, officiating.

Visitation was 4-6:30 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home.  Additional visitation was at 9:30-10:30 a.m. Friday in the funeral home.

Mr. Hardy was born Sept. 20, 1935, in La Salle to Thomas and Wilma (Gingerich) Hardy. He married Dolores Huffines on Feb. 14, 1970.

Bob worked at Caterpillar and then Sundstrand until he and his wife started Country Catering in 1980, which they operated until 2001 when they retired and sold the business. He was a member of Oglesby Elks Club. Bob had been in ill health for several years and died peacefully in his home with his wife by his side.

He is survived by his wife; two daughters, Debra (Larry) Brown of Hennepin and Patricia Hardy Liles of La Salle; three sons, Mark Hardy of La Salle, Robert Hardy Jr. of La Salle and Patrick (Janet) Hardy of Colorado; five stepchildren, Doug (Josie) Burcar of Leonore, Brian (Cindy) Burcar of Lostant, Michael Burcar of La Salle, Barbara (Mark) Woycik of Colorado and Kathleen (Bill) Mercer of Lostant; 16 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one brother, Thomas E. (Laurie) Hardy of Texas; and one sister, Mary Lou (Clarence) Smith of Granville.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, William Hardy; and one sister, Leona Clark
